Out and about in Grenada

Saturday is fresh market day in St. Georges so Steve and I took advantage of the local transportation to take our trip to the market and see the town.

It was a gorgeous, cloudless day but quite warm.  Grenada has beautiful breezes but the buses (mini-vans) were quite crowded and not air-conditioned.   The roads are bumpy and curvy, so it was a bit of a wild ride!



Before we made our way to the market we took a look aroud town and climbed the hill to Fort George.


The market itself was quite crowded so I didn't get any photos there, but we did meet some of the locals and get some fresh produce.  We also enjoyed a local delicacy called chicken roti.  It's quite delicious, and is a wrap filled with chicken and potatoes in a curry sauce.  One hint though, the chicken is still on the bone!

We finished our shopping expedition at one of the local supermarkets, where we learned an important lesson....don't shop on Saturday in Grenada! Grenada is currently under a curfew order from 7 pm to 4 am due to COVID 19 so Saturday is the primary shopping day.  One additional fun fact:  a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke was $12 yikes!!  I guess I'll be kicking my afternoon caffeine addiction :-)

We finished up the day with more cleaning and boat prep. That's me just outside the frame of this picture, waxing...my favorite😄

Family, Celebrations, Holidays and Other Happenings

Home for the Holidays After our arrival in Titusville on November 9th, we settled into our "home port" routine of seeing doctors, visiting family and preparing for the holidays. Bridgette and her boyfriend, Griff, came from Charleston to attend a wedding in Tampa, and added a whirlwind tour from Titusville to Palm Beach Gardens and Satellite Beach to visit grandparents while they were here. March Madness Continues!

  Our daughter, Jessie, and son-in-law, Will, arrived a few hours after our nieces' departure. Although there were some last-minute changes in their flights that were frustrating for them, we were thrilled because they arrived half-a-day earlier than originally planned which allowed them to settle in and rest a bit for our departure the next morning.  Jessie and Will Aboard Starry Night The winds were not favorable for sailing the next day, but we motored - with a boost from the jib - to Allan's Cay, the island just north of Highbourne Cay.  We selected Allan's because the charts showed promising areas for snorkeling and also because within the next couple of days the wind was forecast to shift clockwise 270 degrees, starting from the east, all the way to northerly and be fairly gusty - up to 30 mph or so.
